The Prairie Ornamental Pheasant & Waterfowl Assn. was formed in 1980 by a group of people interested in the raising of gamebirds. In the early to mid 80,s an auction in spring and fall was organized as a fund raiser, and this has carried on until the present. The next move was the organizing of an annual Federation show which was held in Vegreville AB. until 1990. The workforce for the show seemed to grow smaller and it was decided to join forces with Lloydminster in 1992, and it has been held there ever since. The 2007 show was the highest amount of entries ever and realized 3 new exhibitors. The auctions have moved several times with Triple " J " Auctions in Westlock AB starting in the fall of 1991 for several years. Next to Morinville AB for a short time. Next move to Mayerthorpe until we outgrew the facility. In the fall of 2004 we started in Tofield, AB, and held 5 sales there. In the spring of 2007, flooding of the building caused us to cancel the sale and move again. The sales are now scheduled to be held at the Lakedell Ag Society Pavillion at Westerose AB. We have a membership ranging from B.C. to Newfoundland and have an ongoing link with other groups of this nature across Canada.
